I helped design Byrdie’s first Fall Digital Issue as an editorial product that brought long-form storytelling, photography, and video into one cohesive experience. The goal was to create something visually distinct for the issue while building a foundation that could support future editions.

Problem
Each issue needed its own visual identity, but the product could not be rebuilt from scratch every time. We needed a flexible system that protected readability, gave photography room to lead, and allowed editors and designers to introduce new themes without losing the underlying structure.
Solution
I created a reusable set of editorial components that could be rearranged and reskinned for each edition. The landing page organized the issue into a clear narrative, while the cover story paired editorial photography with behind-the-scenes interview footage to add depth without overwhelming the reading experience.
Impact
The reusable editorial system became a model for digital issues across Dotdash. It was later adopted by The Spruce, Brides, Travel + Leisure, InStyle, and Shape, proving the structure could flex across distinct brands and editorial voices without rebuilding the product from scratch.
